zumwalt trail project
Starting in 2013, on the Saturday morning of Fair weekend, Zumwalt campers have gathered to repair a portion of the extensive trails at the park. Every year we get so much enjoyment from coming to this place, and the trail project is a way to give back to the land and Friends of Zumwalt Park, the people who do the maintenance year round. At the end of the 2015 project, Zumwalt campers had rebuilt 1/2 mile of trail that had been damaged from heavy use and moisture. If you have children, this is a perfect service learning project.

this year's project
For Fair 2023 we will be returning after a long hiatus over the pandemic. We will be working at the north end of the mainstem trail in forest. We did this section of trail in previous years, but the trail has seen plenty of use and almost completely broken down. The project area is is shaded in green in the map below. See you on the trail!
Details:
You will be AMAZED what a handful of bleary eyed hippies can get done in couple hours. Then you can clean up, go into the Fair, hit the lake, take a nap...
- Throw in a pair of work gloves when you pack for Fair.
- On Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. come over to registration.
- We'll go somewhere in the park and work for two hours.
- If we've already headed out when you get to registration, just ask folks at the tent where the project is located in the park and come catch up! You're the reinforcements!
